Vedic Astrology - The science of light

The universe can be seen as a great school, a celestial institution of learning within which we are all born, accumulate experiences, and ‘die’. We have come here to learn lessons that will prepare us to return to our source, the origin of all.  In the course of learning these lessons, we create our future reality by our actions.  This is called karma.  We create our karma.  Our karma creates our destiny.

What is vedic astology?

Vedic astrology is traditionally called ‘jyotish’ – the science of light, and has its roots in the ancient Vedic culture of India.  It is based on the Vedic scriptures, some of the oldest known writings to man (well over 5,000 years old).  The Vedas encompass a vast ocean of knowledge, both material and spiritual.  This knowledge was revealed by Divinity to the rishis, the sages of Vedic culture.  From the rishis, this knowledge was preserved and passed down from teacher to student since time immemorial.  Vedic astrology is considered by many to be the original form of astrology.  It spread by diffusion into other cultures, like those of Tibet, Burma, and China, as well as Babylonia, Egypt, Persia and Greece.

Vedic astrology is actually a spiritual science of self-knowledge.  It is a tool to help us unfold into our actual higher or true self, that of pure consciousness.  The planets can be seen as symbols in a cosmic language.  This language helps the embodied soul know something of the will of God in the material world, particularly relative to the individual’s purpose and destiny.  It is not limited to mere psychological analysis.  It shows us the dynamic interplay between fate and freewill, one’s karma and destiny.  It can also be used as a tool for understanding how to transcend one’s karmic destiny.

Raja Perry has been involved in Eastern philosophy, mysticism, yoga and meditation since 1972 when he first came in contact with his initiating guru, Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada. Since then, he has studied a variety of eastern texts and in 1984 decided to specialise in jyotish, or Vedic astrology. Raja has studied with veteran astrologers like Sri Ranganath Desika of Bangalore, Sri V. Krishnaswamy of Madras, and most notably with Dr.David Frawley (Sri Vamadev Shastri) of the American Institute Of Vedic Studies. Raja began professional consultation in 1990, after completing his studies with Dr. Frawley.  He has been able to introduce many spiritually-minded individuals to the means for transcending their karmic destiny as indicated in their birth charts.

Astrological Services

Life Profile (Natal reading)                $190

This is a comprehensive analysis of your birth (natal) chart as calculated from the exact time, place and date of your birth.  Usually the analysis will extend for one and a half to two hours, covering areas such as personality and character traits, spiritual nature, health, finance, career, love and marriage.  In addition, you will receive a computer print out of your natal chart consisting of technical data such as the planetary longitudes, strengths of planets, harmonic charts, planetary periods specific to you, etc.  Such knowledge  will help empower you to take control of your life.  This reading can be conducted in person or over the phone, and in both cases will be audio taped.  Be prepared to spend one and a half to two hours in the reading.

Relationship/Compatability Reading        $150

Perhaps you are seriously considering starting a new life with someone and would like to know what the positive potentials are for the relationship as well as potential trouble areas.  Maybe your current relationship is being tested and you are concerned about its future.  Either way this reading will throw light on the issue offering positive suggestions for minimising any difficulties and thus increasing chances for a happy fulfilling relationship.  This reading may extend from 30 to 60 minutes.

Focused Reading                    $120

This would be the reading to have if you’re interested in a specific issue or time period such as what the upcoming year holds for you financially or if now would be a good time to try and sell the house?  Perhaps you would like to know if your health will improve or not over the next 6 months?  Whatever the question this focused reading will give you a peek into the future and assist you in adjusting your plans to take advantage of your most favourable periods.  This forecast is based on current planetary influences on your natal chart (transits) as well as current planetary periods.  The focused reading is usually 60 minutes.

Questions/Answers (Prashna, or horary astrology)        $50

This branch of astrology can give you new perspective in a crisis situation, or give you definitive answers in times of doubt.  This service does not require your birth data.  Rather, it uses only the time and place of the question to cast the chart, and it can be amazingly accurate.  Example issues: will I win the present court case?; will such and such investment prove successful?; will my father recover from his illness?, etc.  The accuracy of the reading depends largely on the clarity of the question in the querant’s mind, so be clear on your question before asking!  This session is 20 to 30 minutes.

Electing Favourable Times (Muhurta)        $100

‘For everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under the heaven’..…

Muhurta allows you to consider the most favourable stellar influences for initiating important endeavours such as starting a new business, moving house, getting married, investing money, signing contracts, going on important journeys or any other important consideration.  Muhurta  allows you to take advantage of the most opportune moment, thus allowing you to act with critical determination, minimize risk and delay, avert unpleasant surprises and augment your chances for success.  This is not a ‘session’ as such; you request a favourable time for a particular endeavour, either by phone or email, and Raja will get back to you after it has been found.

Remedial Measures

One of the strengths of Vedic astrology  is its ability to diagnose and prescribe effective remedial measures to counterbalance adverse planetary influences.  Vedic astrology recognises that there are many subtle forces surrounding and affecting us constantly.  Due to our own vibrations, which are the result of cumulative karmic influences, these subtle forces can sometimes adversely affect us, and thus degrade our quality of life.  For balancing these influences Vedic astrology employs methods such as meditation and visualization, ritual, colour therapy, etc., which have proven themselves useful in this regard.  Raja is proficient at prescribing these remedial measures based on the indications in your birth horoscope.
